A Prairie School Design Gem Reopens to the Public

The Purcell-Cutts House beckons.

By Kaomi Lee

One of the best examples of Prairie School architectural design is the Purcell-Cutts House in a leafy neighborhood of Minneapolis. Built in 1913, it is considered one of the most avant-garde examples of the collaboration between William Gray Purcell and George Grant Elmslie. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the historic home reopened to the public for tours this spring.
